Astrophotography is a pursuit at the intersection of art, science, and patience. From the plains of Kansas City, MO, I've spent countless clear nights chasing deep-sky objects — nebulae, galaxies, star clusters — and translating their ancient light into photographs that try to honor what's really out there.
I started with a basic DSLR on a camera tripod and graduated through a progression of mounts, telescopes, and cameras. Each rig has taught me something new about the sky, the gear, and my own workflow. Today I run multiple dedicated imaging setups — each optimized for different object types and imaging conditions.
Every image is the result of four disciplines working together.
Each piece of gear is a part of my creative toolkit, helping me bring the night sky to life.
Sessions are planned months in advance using sky surveys, moon calendars, and atmospheric forecasts. More data almost always wins.
Post-processing is where the science meets the art — calibration frames, star reduction, gradient removal, and careful narrowband palette work.
Every image published here includes full acquisition data so other imagers can learn from — or improve on — my work.
