Data Limitations
  • Not for aviation or navigation. This page is for astrophotography awareness only.
  • ADS-B coverage gaps. Not all aircraft broadcast ADS-B; military and some GA aircraft may be absent or filtered.
  • Orbital element age. TLEs are ingested daily from Space-Track.org. Elements older than 2–3 days may produce position errors of tens of km for LEO objects.
  • Satellite visibility ≠ optical visibility. Many satellites are too faint to affect imaging; position above horizon does not imply visual or photometric interference.
  • Apparent magnitude unavailable. TLE data does not include reflectivity; magnitude column shows blank until a photometric source is integrated.
  • Local obstructions not modeled. Trees, buildings, and terrain are not accounted for in the horizon mask.
  • Satellite counts reflect LEO only (perigee ≤ 2 000 km). GEO and MEO objects are excluded from the current dataset.
